Organizing my oldest UFO

I’ve decided to join in on the Organizing Your Studio challenge for 2015!

I’ve found my oldest UFO today and got it all put together in one place. Surprisingly I still have the fabric for the inside and outside borders and the backing, whoo-hoo!

I now have it set by my sewing machine so I can work on the buttonhole appliqué a little at a time. Feels good to have done that. :). Here are a couple pics.

It’s from 2004!

I’m always plugging away on my LaPassion EPP hexagon quilt too. Here’s a current pic.

My favorite quilt

I just read Sew Mama Sews blog and read about posting about my favorite quilt, so I thought I would share mine. 🙂!prettyPhoto

I started quilting in 1994.

When did you make it?
I made this quilt in 1996.

What pattern did you use?
I believe it was a pattern in Harriet Hargrave’s Machine Quilting book.

What fabrics?
Various plaids and I remember looking at a lot of quilt shops to find just the right mottled light tan! LOL

Have your shown it at any quilt shows or entered it in any contests?
No, I haven’t.

What memories or people does the quilt make you think of?
I originally planned to give this quilt to my brother and his new wife for a wedding gift. I always think of him when I look at this quilt. Because I ended up keeping it for myself!

What do you like best about the quilt?
I love all the machine quilting I did on this quilt. I hand drew the feather, made a stencil and drew it on every single half square triangle. I actually kept track of how long it took to do just the machine quilting and it was 40 hours.

How did you grow as a quilter while making it?
My machine quilting improved tremendously! I truly enjoyed every part of making this quilt.

If you could make this quilt again, what (if anything) would you do differently? I honestly wouldn’t change a thing.

Where is the quilt now?
It sits on the back of my favorite chair. 🙂

New hexagon quilt

New hexagon quilt

I started up a new hexagon quilt that I’m making with the English paper piecing method. Absolutely hooked on this type of hand sewing!

Each hexagon measures 1/2 inch on each side. Yes, I think I might be delirious from all this snow! LOL

I finally got down and started sewing in my new quilt room yesterday! It felt really good to get back to sewing again. I started a new lap size quilt for good friends of ours. It’s got a main panel to start and some borders to add on. I’ll show pics soon!

Finished the top today, who-hoo!

I’ve got another EPP quilt to start right away. Love having one to work on, especially during the winter.

Hope to get down to my sewing room tomorrow and get cracking on some UFOs!
